Steps:
1.
Check
Current Version of SmarterMail:
·
Open
your browser and log in to SmarterMail.
·
Click
on your username in the top-right corner and select About SmarterMail.
·
Note
down the current version. You’ll need this to compare after the
update.
2.
Identify
Installation and Domain Data Paths:
Ø
Find
Installation Folder:
·
Press
Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
·
In
the Services window, find SmarterMail and right-click it.
·
Select
Properties and note down the Path to the executable (e.g., C:\SmarterTools\SmarterMail).
·
Locate
Domain Data:
·
Navigate
to the SmarterMail installation folder (e.g., C:\SmarterTools\SmarterMail\Services).
·
Find
and open the DomainList file to identify the Path to domain data (e.g.,
C:\SmarterMail\Domains ).
3.
Back
Up SmarterMail Configuration and Data:
i. Stop SmarterMail Service:
·
Open
the Services window again.
·
Right-click
SmarterMail Service and click Stop to temporarily stop the service.
ii. Back Up Important Files:
Ø
Make
copies of the Following directories:
·
C:\SmaterTools\SmarterMail
(Installation folder).
·
C:\SmarterMail\Domains
(Domain data).
4.
Download
the Latest SmarterMail Version:
i. Go to the Official SmarterTools website:
·
Https://www.smartertools.com/smartermail/downloads
·
Download
the latest stable version of SmarterMail.
5.
Uninstall
the Current SmarterMail Version:
i. Open Control Panel:
·
Press
Windows
Key + R, type control , and hit Enter.
ii. Uninstall SmarterMail:
·
Click
on Programs > Programs and Features.
·
Find
SmarterMail in the list, click it, and choose Uninstall.
6.
Install
the New SmarterMail Version:
i. Run the Installer:
·
Find
the downloaded SmarterMail installer and run it as Administrator.
·
Follow
the installation steps. Make sure the installation directory is the same as the
previous one (e.g., C:\SmarterTools\SmarterMail).
ii. Select Exiting Site:
·
During
installation, choose Use an existing site and select
SmarterMail.
iii. Complete Installation:
·
Finish
the setup process and ensure the SmarterMail service is running.
7.
Verify
the Upgrade:
i. Log in to SmaterMail:
·
Go
back to the web interface.
ii. Check the Version:
·
Click
on your username in the top -right corner and select About SmarterMail.
·
Make
sure the version is now updated to the latest version.
iii. Test Email Functionality:
· Send a test email to make sure everything is working properly.
