Enable BitLocker Drive Encryption

Step 1: Open Control Panel

    • Press Windows + S

    • Type Control Panel

    • Open it

Step 2: Go to BitLocker Settings

    • Click System and Security

    • Select BitLocker Drive Encryption

Step 3: Turn On BitLocker

    • Find your system drive (usually C:)

    • Click Turn on BitLocker

Step 4: Choose Unlock Method

Pick one:

    • Use a password

    • Use a smart card (less common)

Step 5: Save Recovery Key

Choose where to save:

    • Save to Microsoft account

    • Save to USB drive

    • Save to file

    • Print the recovery key

⚠️ Keep this key safe.

Step 6: Choose Encryption Option

Select:

    • Encrypt used disk space only (faster for new PCs)

    • Encrypt entire drive (better for used PCs)

Step 7: Choose Encryption Mode

    • New encryption mode (best for internal drives)

    • Compatible mode (for removable drives)

Step 8: Start Encryption

    • Click Start Encrypting

    • Wait until process completes
