· When your iPhone detects no cellular or Wi-Fi signal, it alerts you that you can send messages via satellite (this alert appears on the Lock Screen or when you open the Messages app).

2. Satellite Options
When connected to a satellite, you can:

Text emergency services (Emergency SOS).
·
Use Roadside Assistance.
·
Share your location via Find My (if available).

3. Send a Message
1.
Open the Messages app.
2.
Follow the instructions to connect to a
satellite.
3.
If you are using iPhone 14 Pro or later,
the Dynamic Island will
·
show signal strength and
· Give directions (Like turning left or right) to improve connection.

4. Receive Messages
·
Once connected, you’ll receive SMS messages
from emergency contacts or family members.
·
iMessages will only arrive if the sender
taps "Send via Satellite" under their message bubble."

5. Message Speed
·
In open areas, messages take about 30
seconds to send.
·
Under light trees, it may take over a
minute.
·
Heavy obstructions (dense trees, buildings)
might block the connection entirely.

6. Limited Features
You
cannot send or receive:
·
Photos
·
Videos
·
Audio messages
·
Stickers
·
Group messages via satellite.
Step
7. Using SMS via Satellite
·
If iMessage fails (e.g., the recipient
doesn't have iOS 18 or isn't using an Apple device), the message will be sent
as an SMS via satellite.
