How to Set Your Preferred Search Engine in Google Chrome for macOS


Example: macOS

Steps:


1. Open Google Chrome:

Launch Google Chrome on your Mac.


 


2. Click the Three Dots in the Top Right Corner:

Look at the Top Right Corner of Chrome and click the three vertical Dots to open the menu.

                


3. Go to Settings:

In the menu, click on Settings to open the chrome settings page.


              


4. Choose the Search Engine Section:

In the settings page, scroll down and find the Search Engine section.


       


5. Check the Current Search Engine:

You’ll see the search engine that’s currently set as the default for your address bar. This is that one Chrome uses when you type directly into the search bar.

 


6. Pick a New Default Search Engine:

Click on the drop-down menu under Search engine used in the address bar and choose your preferred search engine. (e.g., Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo).


       


7. Want a Custom Search Engine:

If you want to add a custom search engine, click Manage search engines to see a list of available options and settings.


  


8. Add a New Search Engine:

Under Other Search Engine, click Add to enter a new search engine.


                     


9. Enter Search Engine Details:

A pop-up will appear. Fill in the names of the search engine and the URL (you can also add a keyword for easy access), then click Add
